Misunderstanding About a “Doctor” Nurse

This letter prompts a discussion about misunderstanding related to nurses with a doctorate degree. My personal concern arises every time I introduce myself as a nurse with PhD (or Doctor of Philosophy) and people often asked, “Are you a medical doctor?”, or “Can you give a prescription?” This poses a challenge for nurses with doctorates to identify themselves as a “Doctor” that will create confusion in public.
